I love my readers!

August 7, 2008 singlemom1

I check my stats every day to see if there are any new comments and to see how many people have read my blog. Usually I get around 10-20 views per day, which is very exciting. However, today I checked and was blown away–I had 198 views!!! Did one of you fall asleep hitting the reset button on your computer? Or are you telling all of your friends? Regardless, THANKS!!! You all made my day!

I don’t know who all reads this, but if a certain someone that I used to be close to does, I need to watch what I say. I am going to ask for some good luck and prayers from you all, as I am going to spend my Friday off looking for a new day care for my son. You have read how much he and I love this current day care, however, my opinion of it changed this afternoon. I am not going to say more right now, but please pray that I can find another place that will be safe for Matthew and have an opening in his age group. Thanks.

I sat through CHAMPS training today. It’s a program about classroom management. Most of it is common sense, as long as you try to manage your classroom and don’t just send kids to the office. We had a husband-and-wife team presenting to us today, and they were great. I read something on the internet the other day: If I die at school, I hope it is during an inservice so the transition from life to death will be smooth. I saw it on facebook, but it is sooooo true sometimes. I once sat through an inservice about computers that was SOOOOO boring because I don’t care about computers. It wasn’t about a program that we would be using, or even how to use a computer, but just about computers. Some of you might know what I am talking about–specifically. Tomorrow I get to sit through PDAS training, which is Texas’ teacher evaluation system. I have to give credit to DISD for one thing: we were not frozen out today. I brought a sweater and never had to use it! Hooray! However, for every good, there is a bad. We had a glorious 45 minutes for lunch. They claim it was an hour, but DISD mandates that you must be signed in and in your seat by the start time, or they will not let you back in the room. We all had to park in the lot on the opposite side from the front doors, so you really only got 45 minutes for lunch. I ran to McDonalds, who screwed up my order. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich, not the grilled. I do not eat fast food grilled chicken, it has a rubbery texture and it’s stinky. (Learned that word from Clarice and her day care friend.) Yes, I am white and female, but I want fried chicken. There are food “rules” in the south. Apparently, if you’re white and female, you drink Diet Coke. I have sent back so many diet cokes because I didn’t ask for diet coke, I asked for COKE. I don’t like the taste of diet coke, but I am white, female, and in the south, so that must be my drink.  Listen to what I say, quit looking at my appearance! I follow rules in my school building, I follow rules of the road, but I do NOT follow stupid food rules that make no sense and are based on gender and ethnicity.

That’s all for now. Again, please pray that I can find a safe day care for my child that also has an opening in his age group. I’ll keep you all posted. Thanks for reading!

the reason you’ve got a sudden spike in readers is because your blog has made it into WordPress’s “fastest growing blogs” list. You’re jut a click away from the main page.

Single Mom — I think your pageviews got a big bump yesterday because I inked to your post off my DISD blog on Dallasnews.com.

I linked to today’s post on CHAMPS, too, so you should see lots more traffic today.

There was a link yesterday on the DallasISD blog, I think, to your comments about Harry Wong training. That’s why there was so many hits probably. There is a rumble that DISD is going to Gradespeed for your gradebook this year. Have you heard that?

Now you know how most students feel.

I haven’t been to many inservices that leave you refreshed or more informed. They are such a waste of time. Working computers and an aid in each classroom would be much more beneficial.
